FAQs
Southern Escapes is a full service pool company specializing in new pool construction with multiple divisions that that can also take on outdoor living construction and renovations as well as weekly pool maintenance and pool equipment repair services. We can handle projects from mild to wild in both residential and commercial applications.
Southern Escapes has 2 local offices with our HQ located at 4802 SW 85th Ave Gainesville, Fl 32608. Our new showroom and offices are currently under construction and we cant wait to show it off once completed! Our second location is our construction office which is closed to the general public but is located in Newberry, Fl .
Our service area greatly depends on your desired services but as a general rule of thumb we try to keep our team within 60 miles of the greater Gaineville area but we are willing to travel pending the scope of your project.
While we currently observe a project minimum of $55,000, Southern Escapes works with a variety of budgets to create luxury outdoor living spaces that fit our clients' needs.
The first step is completing our Project Questionnaire, from there Southern Escapes will reach out to schedule a consultation with one of our expert team members to discuss your needs. Southern Escapes will schedule a follow-up meeting and present you with a detailed proposal for the project.
Your One-Sheet is an 11” x 17” sheet of paper that includes: your home and pool dimensions, exact specifications on measurements and depths, pool and spa details, water features, material selections, and any special notes that you would like included in your project I.E. special access, animals, late work schedules, etc. Buildertrend is an app we use to compile construction information, upload construction pictures, and communicate with you. We recommend all our clients use the app and prefer communications through it so the appropriate team member can respond to your questions. All timelines in Buildertrend are estimated work phases and not guaranteed construction dates.
We require a clear, unobstructed access path to get back to the construction site for the pool. Any damages to sod, landscaping, irrigation, or utilities due to access are not included in our contract unless clearly stated. This can include areas on the opposite side of the yard around the pool if we need to access that area to build or stage materials for the pool. We can repair any damage done but this is not included in your base contract.
The One-Sheet included in your Buildtrend documents is our template for your project. If the dimensions on there are correct there is a very, very low chance the pool and/or spa are incorrect. The strings and forms used to dig and shape the pool do not directly indicate final elevations or distances. If you have questions, please ask and we’ll go over them with you.
Material selections need to be made at the time your contract is signed. Material selections must be finalized approximately one month before construction begins to ensure there are no delays due to deliveries or availability. We find it much easier to pick out materials at contract signing then touch base with you again before the pool begins. Decking materials can have extremely long delivery times and waterline tiles have availability and discontinuation issues.
The weather is one of our biggest hurdles in pool construction. There are certain aspects of your build that can’t be done if there is even a chance of rain. During heavy rain periods or hurricane season our schedule is subject to change quickly and without notice. Even if your job is not directly impacted by inclement weather, our other projects may be impacted and that could affect available workers and slow down your construction.
Once the pool is full of water dont jump in just yet. The new pool finish must cure and chemicals must be slowly introduced to your pool. This process will take a few weeks depending on the plaster color, source water quality, water temperature, etc. Your pool will be filled from the hose – if you have issues with your water we need to be informed before the pool is plastered so we can make the necessary adjustments during filling and curing.
